Iran Trying to Build Nuclear Missiles

Secret Services Say Iran is Trying to Assemble a Nuclear Missile
Document seen by Guardian details web of front companies and middlemen

The Guardian The Iranian government has been successfully scouring Europe for the sophisticated equipment needed to develop a nuclear bomb, according to the latest western intelligence assessment of the country's weapons programmes.
Scientists in Tehran are also shopping for parts for a ballistic missile capable of reaching Europe, with "import requests and acquisitions ... registered almost daily", the report seen by the Guardian concludes.
The warning came as Iran raised the stakes in its dispute with the United States and the European Union yesterday by notifying the International Atomic Energy Authority that it intended to resume nuclear fuel research next week. Tehran has refused to rule out a return to attempts at uranium enrichment, the key to the development of a nuclear weapon... (read on)

I say so what. So fucking what.
Don't get me wrong. i'm not for the proliferation of nuclear weapons, no, I'm totally for quite the opposite. What chimpyco has done is forcing countries like Iran and North korea to pursue nukes. What choice do they have, and why wouldn't they want a deal like India and Pakistan have, the only countries to develop their own nuclear arsenals since the inception of the NPT? (We're not allowed to count Israel) The message is, get nukes, and then the US will be forced to be your friend.
Let's get real.
First off, Iran already has at least a few nuclear capable stealth cruise missiles.

Iran, China reportedly got Ukraine missiles
Nuclear-capable weapons have the range to reach U.S. allies

NBC News: KIEV, Ukraine - Ukrainian weapons dealers smuggled 18 nuclear-capable cruise missiles to Iran and China during former President Leonid Kuchma’s administration, prosecutors said Friday. The missiles have the range to reach U.S. allies.
Although those reports all said that the missiles sold to iran did not include warheads, there were also reports of Iran on the market to obtain them.

Exiles: Iran Seeks to Obtain Nuclear Warheads
PARIS (Reuters) - Iran allocated $2.5 billion to obtainthree nuclear warheads last year, an exiled opposition groupsaid Thursday, without saying whether Iran had secured any ofthe warheads.

Second, the US has nukes and Bushco has abandoned its long-term international agreements with the rest of the world to stop their spread.
The rest of the world does not have to listen to a hypocrite, and they know it.

The U.S.’s Actions Make it a “Rogue” State
Washington has often opposed UN treaties since the end of World War II

The United States is seen as a lone state that stands along in its opposition to several UN-backed treaties, despite strong support from the rest of the international community, including its closest allies.

Aljazeera: ...The list of UN treaties that Washington ignores is too long, despite strong persuasion efforts from its staunchest allies. American leaders continue to oppose the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty on nuclear weapons, the Treaty Banning Antipersonnel Mines, a protocol to create a compliance regime for the Biological Weapons Convention, the Antiballistic Missile Treaty, the International Criminal Court treaty, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The U.S. is also not complying with the Chemical Weapons Commission, the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and the UN framework Convention on Climate Change. Moreover, Washington recently refused to let the UN Human Rights Commission investigate prisoner abuses at Guantanamo and other detention centers.

This staunch rejection to back such international treaties is hurting the already damaged image of the United States in the eyes of the international community. "It sends the message that the United States has been the biggest violator and thrasher of international law in the post-war period," Richard Du Boff, a professor emeritus of economic history at Bryn Mawr College in the state of Pennsylvania, told the Inter Press Service...
The international system is anarchic. There is no governing body of laws and regulations that govern the actions of nation-states, except where those states agree to comply with international agreements and institutions. The problem is, chimpyco wants to force the rest of the world to abide by international law and be held to the nuclear non-proliferation agreement when the US itself does not.

The US has squandered its hegemony by becoming belligerent. Chimpy and his PNAC buddies have fucking squandered America's soft power. From before they took office, they very publicly set forth to rule the world by dominant military threat alone. Their Sept 2000 manifesto, "Rebuilding America's Defenses", from their website, can be had here (pdf). Even if the US media and public weren't paying attention, the rest of the world sure was. That is chimpy's biggest failure, and will damage the US for generations even if we could change course right now today.

If there is anything close to a law of international relations, evidenced from the Peloponnesian Wars to date, it is that a belligerent hegemon will always cause others to balance against it. That is already happening. Does anyone believe today that the US is ready to take on Russia and China at the same time, or Iran and Venezuela? We can't even handle iraq, and it's been on a leash for more than a decade.

Chavez Backs Iran's Nuclear Goals

...The Iranian president is on a visit to Venezuela to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Khatami said both Iran and Venezuela will stand firm against any aggression and lamented "the injustice of the great powers that try to control the world".

"What must be condemned are calls for violence, whether from terrorists or from aggressors with yearnings for domination," Khatami said.

"Iran and Venezuela, these two brothers, are and will be together forever," Chavez said. "Iran, confronted by the United States, has our solidarity."...
Chinese, Russian Militaries to Hold First Joint Drills
Alliance May Extend to Arms Sales

MOSCOW -- Russia and China will hold their first ever joint military exercises this week as the once wary neighbors demonstrate their willingness to cooperate in the face of the U.S. military presence in Central Asia.

The two countries will also do a little business on the side as Russia shops its hardware, including nuclear-capable strategic bombers, to its military-industrial complex's best customer, Russian and Chinese defense analysts said...
This much is fact. Neither Russia and China, nor Iran and Venezuela would ever have formed alliences to meet the US threat before chimpy stole the whitehouse.
The US is headed in the wrong direction.
