The Trouble with Lying is,...

Having trouble keeping them straight, eh chimpy?

A George W. Bush Iraqi Update

Bush: "They want us to leave. That's what they want us to do,
and I think the world would be better off if we did leave..."
(Woops, Oh crap I didn't mean to say that. What I meant was ...)

Kind of reminds me of when george went off script and accidently let another truth spill out last year at one of his Soc. Sec. potemkin townhall mtgs...

"If you've retired, you don't have anything to worry about -- third time I've said that. (Laughter.) I'll probably say it three more times. See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda. (Applause.)"
Thats sounds eerily reminiscent of this famous Joseph Goebbels quote:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
